Gesher, the Hebrew word for ‘bridge’, is the fun-and friend-raising arm of our school community.

Whoever teaches their grandchildren Torah is regarded as if they had received the Torah from Mount Sinai, as it is said, ‘Teach your children and your children’s children'.

Rabbi Joshua Ben Levi

Gesher arranges a number of events with a focus on bringing the community together.

We have a vibrant and growing grandparents’ community, including many who live overseas and regularly receive news from Gesher.

More than 1000 Alumni have completed their schooling at Emanuel School, with this number growing every year.

We facilitate many different events including Primary Grandparents’ and Friends’ Day, school reunions, sports challenges and alumni and student choir events. We also host Careers Space, a careers information session for Years 11 and 12, involving presenters from our alumni.

You can read about Gesher news in the School’s weekly newsletter, Ma Nishma, and our biannual Alumni and Grandparents and friends newsletters are full of news, simchot and photos – DO WE WANT TO LEAVE NEWSLETTERS ON THE WEBSITE?

For more information on Gesher, please contact our Development Officer, Sonia Newell on email.

When a grandparent blesses a grandchild they do so with a full heart

Rabbi Jonathan Sacks

The P&F, an enthusiastic group of volunteer parents, embodies the friendly spirit of Emanuel and enhances the school’s strong sense of community.

The Association comprises a committed and busy committee, with meetings held on the first Wednesday of the month during school term.

P&F services include:
● Support for new parents
● Annual teachers’ luncheon
● Mitzvah Meals to support our community in times of need
● Support for school functions such as Pesach Sederim
● Fundraising ventures including Purim Disco, Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day stalls and breakfasts, weekly Challah orders and major school communal evenings.

Parents are invited to join the P&F, attending meetings, supporting individual activities and more. If you cannot attend a meeting but would like to raise an issue or offer any assistance, please contact Justine at p&f@emanuelschool.nsw.edu.au. Suggestions for further events, services and fundraisers are welcome. (do we want to keep this on the website?)
