A rich musical culture pervades Emanuel School. We endeavour to assist all students to develop their musical talent and love of music.
The Music Department is led by a talented team of professionals, passionately committed to the development of musical talent, interest and enjoyment throughout the School. These teachers are equally adept in the classroom and as conductors, and this dual role allows coherence and integration between the extra-curricular and curriculum music programs, ensuring that our students’ musical talent is recognised and nurtured inside and outside the classroom.

PRE-SCHOOL
Music is an integral part of learning from Pre-School, fostering creativity, confidence and a love of music from an early age. Students engage in classroom music experiences designed to develop musical skills, expression and enjoyment.
Private instrumental and singing lessons are also available through a team of specialist visiting tutors.
PRIMARY SCHOOL
Music is a valued part of every student's educational journey in the Primary School. Alongside weekly classroom music lessons, students have opportunities to explore instrumental music, performance and ensemble participation.
- K–2 Infant Strings Program: Students can learn violin, viola or cello.
- Years 3–6 Instrumental Program (IP): All students learn an orchestral instrument in small groups with professional tutors.
- Private Instrumental and Singing Lessons: Available from Kindergarten onwards.
- Performance Opportunities: Students can participate in choirs, concert bands, string orchestras, guitar ensembles, rock bands and musical productions.
- Music Camps and Concerts: Students enjoy a range of performances and special events throughout the year, including concerts, competitions and music camps.
These opportunities help students develop musicianship, confidence, teamwork and a lifelong appreciation of music.
